Finis!
Happy Birthday, P &
Happy World Environment Day !
I am done. Woo woo! And it only took me two months ! Heh. But let’s face it, I was incredibly slack with my work ethic on this piece. Bad, bad me! It’s something I am hoping to rectify in the coming months - especially with school starting up in September. Eep.
Anyway, I’ve also included the original reference image. As you can tell, my drawing isn’t 100% accurate - never is. There are some problems differences - J ’s mouth, the shape of S ‘ face (which might be fixable now that I am looking at it - hmm), and some of the shadows on S’ face (they make her face look a lot more angular and harder than it actually is - hmm), for example. But the photos are pretty piss-poor too - the textures on their face look like ass - so I probably shouldn’t overanalyze. But overall, I’d like to think I captured them and especially captured their expressions. The original reference is probably one of my favouritest photos of them and it was very important that I capture their expressions.
Mission accomplished, methinks. It is completely gratifying to know how much my skills are improving. I whipped out my self-portrait last night and comparatively, I think that the new piece is astoundingly better and everyone knows how proud of that damn self-portrait I am. Heh. I like not being stagnant in my craft. It’s awesome.
And can I just say how proud of J’s hair I am? I am. I think it rawks.
Now, I just need to get a decent photograph of the drawing for my portfolio and for submission to the show . The current ones are crap . That deadline is fast approaching!
But with any luck, J and S will spend September hanging in a gallery on the U of C campus.
Oh, and the reference image. Hm, I’m not even sure who took it - either S herself or L , her mom. So I should probably give them credit for the original image, huh?
So consider this some credit.
Now I am on to other things. Namely the oil pastel project I have been kicking around. I would have started last night, but I was having printer problems - I had to re-install drivers and all sorts of nonsense - and I didn’t get my reference photo printed off until almost midnight. Ugh.
And W panned the name Bruno for his car (which he gets on Saturday! Woop!). Booo! He is no fun. He is, however, entertaining the name, Evad [waves at S and S† ]. But only after I told him the backstory. Holy sweet Universe, D&D nerds do like nerdy D&D stories.
ETA: I just emailed the Sketchbook Project folks. I still haven’t gotten my book.

I meant to comment the other day but got pulled away. Your drawing is excellent. It amazes me when people can draw as well as a photograph, simply amazing.
